Mercados Centrales de Abastamiento, S. A., hereinafter MERCAVALÈNCIA, is a food wholesale market in Valencia. We are part of the network of Mercas (23 Food Units) at a national level installed in the main cities of our territory, all of them participated by MERCASA and the city council where they’re installed. The purpose of the creation of this food cluster was to ensure the supply of the cities, carry out an effective sanitary control in the event of a food alert and extract these wholesale markets from the center of the cities, minimizing noise, waste and respecting the hours of rest of the population. All these objectives have been achieved for about 40 years and other needs have been covered that have arisen as a result of the synergies generated between the companies installed in these food units.
Our main services are :
Fish Market: the most important and extensive concentration of supply of fish from the fish market, national and imported in the entire Valencian Community.
Tira de Contar: Warehouse where more than 100 farmers sell their crops daily. This business model of direct sales of the field is unique in Europe both for its volume and variety of seasonal products.
Mercaflor: There are only 4 flower and plant markets nationwide, and it is estimated that it is the most important concentration of supply in Spain. Add, that they also directly assist flower growers to sell their crops directly.
Slaughterhouse and cutting: Largest public service slaughterhouse in the Community of Valencia in terms of slaughter capacity for pigs, with the addition of a pig cutting room for a handling capacity of 750,000 carcasses/year, with a management and control facility state-of-the- art and that meets the highest quality standards in accordance with the IFS and BRC accreditations, as well as the highest European qualifications in Animal Welfare and ISO 14001 environmental management.
Currently it has about 500.000 m2; more than 451.000 tons of annual product; more than 5.000 PEOPLE per Assistance Day; An average of more than 3.000 vehicles per day; 1.2 MILLION consumers supplied and more than €1,150 MILLION in sales volume. environmental management.
